Responsibilities and accomplishments include:

Increasing the amount of film production occurring in California:

  • Offered the largest collection of location photos in the world through the CFC's online Cinemascout location database and on-site resource library.
  • Reduced costs to productions shooting in California by finding new or vacant state-owned properties for film production companies at minimal costs.
  • Led the state's effort to retain and attract all levels of film production; acted as the state's link to all levels of the entertainment community from film/TV producers and location managers to major studios, unions and guilds.

Educating decision makers about the value of in-state film production:

  • Coordinated with all levels of state and local governments to create film-friendly laws and guidelines, reduced costs, and eliminated restrictions that dissuade film productions from filming in California.
  • Partnered with 60 Regional Film Offices across the state to establish film-friendly guidelines, laws and outreach programs that supported and attracted all levels of film production and still photography.
  • Worked with regional municipalities to create policies that balanced the needs of filmmakers with local business communities.

Streamlining the state's filming permit process:

  • Offered free online permitting for all state properties including state beaches and parks, highways, and government buildings.
  • Issued an average of 2,000 permits per year.
  • Managed all types of production-related issues that arose with filming on state property.
